Reports of an agreement between Hamas and Fatah in Cairo limiting terrorism for the next three months are dismissed as "nonsense" by Israeli officials. Meretz MK Tzali Reshef said that no one in Israel would dream of "accepting" any agreement that merely restricts terrorism to one geographical area or period of time, "but we must still recognize that this shows that even Hamas is beginning to re-think, to some extent, its strategy of terror." Prof. Aryeh Eldad, who served as the IDF's Chief Medical Officer and is likely to be a Moledet Party member of the next Knesset, said, "Any talk of 'encouraging' terrorist organizations to give up terrorism is exactly what led us into the folly of Oslo." Eldad said that he is surprised to hear people still talking that way.
