It seems as though all of these anti-Israel rallies are in the name of peace, human rights and mankind in general, yet one basic question is left uncomfortably unanswered. Where were all of these lovers of humanity when the missiles were being fired on Israel for the last eight years?
Osher Twito is a nine-year-old boy who lives in Sderot. In February of last year, Osher and his big brother Rami were seriously hurt when a Kassam exploded next to them. Doctors were forced to amputate Osher's left leg and just barely managed to save his right leg following eight operations. The nine-year-old boy is still recovering from the trauma. Where were all the rallies for Osher?
The rockets and mortars first struck on April 16, 2001. Since then, there have been more than 6,300 fired on Israel. Last year's toll was more than 3,000. Can someone tell me where these ardent demonstrators against violence were then?
Israel uses the most sophisticated laser, radar and satellite technologies known to man in order to pinpoint its targets and minimize any collateral damage; and still the defenders of justice condemn. The Arabs in Gaza, on the other hand, have been lobbing missiles into Israel with the sole intent of murdering innocent civilians and, for some mysterious reason unbeknownst to us, the guardians of human safety sat quietly for years. The reason? These rallies aren’t for humanity or human rights. They’re protests against Israel.
The weak of mind and insipid of spirit within Israel’s political echelon have once again aligned themselves with these liberal-left activists thoroughly convinced that they are the official defenders of the underdog. Swayed to believe that the use of might in defense of right is morally suspect, the Left in Israel have now aligned themselves with the enemies of the Jewish people and are protesting the actions of the IDF.
The Jewish people are home and are taking the future into their own hands.
What those Jews might have forgotten, and what is incumbent upon us to remind them, is the fact that the war in Gaza is not about achieving a ceasefire with Hamas. It is about ensuring the freedom of every Jew around the world. The Arabs, whether from Lebanon, Syria, Gaza or Egypt, can lose a thousand wars. Imagine if Israel ever lost one. What would happen to the Jewish women in Israel, the children, the elderly if we ever lost? We, the Jewish people, are one third of one percent of the world’s population and we are fighting for our lives. Sometimes we forget, but if Israel falls, we all fall.
So, to all the anti-Israel demonstrators and so-called lovers of peace, after 2,000 years of benefiting from your careful watch and protection, the Jewish people are home and are taking the future into their own hands. You can protest and condemn us until the next Lebanon war, but nothing you do will ever stop us from living out our destiny in our homeland.
