We simple people try to continue our lives and contribute to our family, community, country and nation. For some time now we have the feeling that we are living in a different place than that in which our politicians who are seated in the positions of power are living.

The media reports meetings between Abu Mazen and Ehud Olmert, Tzipi Livini and other Israeli politicians. The media reports secret agreements regarding the future of the eternal capital of Israel, Jerusalem. The media reports meetings between Syria and Israel. The media reports meetings between Egypt and Israeli politicians. The media reports time after time the arrival of US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to our region, and about meetings between her and Israeli politicians. The media reports missile attack after missile attack, mortar attack after mortar attack.

What is missing here in these daily, hourly continuous reports? Where is the honesty to say outright that while the PLO continues to disregard every single signed agreement since September 1993, Israel continues to pretend that they are actually a partner for negotiations to resolve the continuous violent attacks - both verbally and physically - by every single representative of the PLO.

The Hamas, it is reported, wanted a "calming down of the situation." In reality, Egypt allows the continuous flow of weapons into Gaza, so the idea of "quieting things down" would only allow time for the terrorist forces in Gaza to grow stronger and further endanger Israeli citizens, both civilian and military.

While Syria is sitting in meetings, the Hizbullah enjoys the flow of weapons and ammunition from Iran through

How is it that not one of these politicians has actually come out and said the truth?

Syria; and our border with Lebanon is even worse today than it was before the Second Lebanon War two years ago.

What are these Israeli politicians trying to prove? Are they really so ignorant that they believe in the possibility of calming the situation down by yet more concessions to terrorists and terrorist-supporting governments?

How is it that not one of these politicians has actually come out and said the truth about the outcome of the expulsion from Gush Katif and northern Samaria? Not one major cover story in any of the newspapers, radio or television - by the same reporters who so coveted and encouraged the expulsion - is telling the truth of the result of this evil, dangerous operation by the Sharon government. (I am not even mentioning hundreds of our families who lost their homes, communities, livelihood, synagogues, schools, cemeteries, etc.)

Where is the simple common sense and responsibility of elected officials? Where are the courts to protect the citizens of Israel while the "heads of state" are under investigation for criminal activities? How can these officials be allowed to remain in office under the circumstances?

At the outset of the Oslo Agreements, one of my children came to me when I came home from a day out in the field and said, "Mommy I have a joke that is not a joke."

I responded , "OK. What does that mean, 'a joke that is not a joke'?"

He said, "It is supposed to be a joke, but it is not funny. Mom, what is the coldest place in the world?"

I answered, "I don't know, Antarctica? Alaska? Greenland? "

"No", my son said, "The Knesset. It is 120 degrees below zero."

He was right. It is not funny, but sad that those who are in our Knesset are for the most part either criminals, or traitors to the State and people of Israel - either by intent or by ignorance.

We have been attacked constantly in the past years, since the Oslo Agreements were signed. Terrorists have turned our lives into a nightmare of personal loss of loved ones in cities, in buses, in military operations. Thousands of missiles have ripped homes, schools and our lives apart, and the governments of Israel continue to pretend that there is actually a way to negotiate with terrorist countries and organizations, while those organizations and countries will do all they can to destroy each and every one of us here in Israel.

Following the celebrations marking 60 years since the establishment of the State of Israel, it is time for common sense and responsibility to step in. It is time for an Israeli government that will protect the people and ensure the future of the Jewish people in the Land of Israel.
