It seems that America does not know how to solve its economic problems, nor does it know what to do about its growing Arabic population, or about the terror against US troops in Iraq. So what does it do? It sends Condoleezza Rice to Israel to tell Israel how to solve the economic problems of its Arabic population and how to make "peace"

America is Israel's greatest friend, but it just doesn't seem to understand what is going on in the world or in the Arab world. It also seems as if the USA has no compassion or tolerance for the children and adults of Sderot and southern Israel, nor does it really understand the implications of its demands.


Isn't it amazing that while Condoleezza requests that the Arabs of Gaza stop firing missiles at Jews and stop murdering Jews, she is asking the Jews to help improve the economy of these same Arab murderers? To the Palestinian Arabs, this states that America links murder with the level of economic development and assumes that the terrorists will stop the terror if the economy improves.


Even though the Arabs have not carried out even a minimal part of any previous agreement, Israel is again being pressured to concede more and more. How far will America go against Israel's basic security needs in order to get the American news channels to focus on Israel, rather than on the American economy and the war in Iraq?


Have we already forgotten that the Arab economy was much better until the Palestinian Arab government in Gaza started firing deadly missiles at Israel? Is Israel's unwillingness to allow potential terrorists to work in Israel the cause of the economic condition or is the terrorist government responsible? Why are the world and the USA looking at the situation backwards? Why is Israel being asked to make more and more concessions, while the Arabs are not even forced to stop the daily firing of missiles at innocent children and adults?


In response, our fearful leaders are conceding more and more to the terrorists. Not only has the government decided to remove many roadblocks and security points, but it is again providing weapons to terrorists. Our government has learned nothing, it seems, from Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin's folly of providing rifles to the Arabs (all the rifles eventually were turned against Jews). Now Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has agreed to provide more rifles to the "moderate" terrorists and has one-upped Rabin by also providing armored vehicles. I guess the government feels that the Palestinian Arabs have not smuggled enough weapons from Egypt into Gaza.


A commentator with tongue-in-cheek explained the situation. Israel can defeat any Arab army. Israeli leaders seem to believe that Israel cannot defeat terrorists. To solve the problem, Israel will soon also provide the terrorists with tanks, military advisors, planes and artillery, and turn the terrorists into a real army. And then, Israel will fight

Is anyone considering the cost in the lives of our children and other citizens? I guess I would make a poor modern politician, because I cannot fathom the logic of Israeli moves.


The situation is even affecting our youth. Throughout modern Israel's short history, our youth has always competed to get into the elite fighting units of the IDF. The situation seems to be beginning to reverse itself, and more and more of the youth are looking for ways to avoid military service or to serve as "jobniks" (military clerks, rather than fighting men).


So, the military has seen a need to start sending recruiting officers to secular high schools to teach the youth some Jewish history and "Zionism" (which the schools utterly fail to do). These officers try to instill pride in being Jewish and Israeli in the youngsters that many teachers are unable to reach. It has reached the point where a liberal protest group has formed in the schools to urge the students to ignore these soldiers and to refuse to participate in these discussions. They accuse the military of trying to brainwash the students, while in effect it is the protesters themselves who do not want open discussion or opposing ideas. Those who do not want the youth to learn about Jewish heroism or history, or to look at Judaism in a positive light, are the ones attempting to brainwash our youth.
