Dear Mr. Secretary-General:

I am writing in reference to your comment last week condemning Israel for using, as you call it, "excessive force" and a "disproportionate" amount of firepower in response to the recent bombing of Israeli citizens. I am absolutely flummoxed by this condemnation.

Israel has suffered hundreds of Kassam rockets and Katyusha rockets hurled at its citizens. People, citizens going about their daily activities, have been killed, maimed and psychologically damaged by these attacks. With reckless disregard for human life, the cowardly terrorists (please do not ever call murderers "insurgents") in the Palestinian Authority in Gaza launch their rockets from residential areas By doing so, they put Israel in a position such that when it wishes to destroy the very rocket launchers that are killing its citizens, the IDF is forced to shoot into populated areas. The PA terrorists are willing to sacrifice their own children on the altar of blood and terror.

Let us look at a hypothetical scenario: Some fanatics living in Windsor, Ontario, in Canada decide one day to start shelling the citizens of the USA living in Detroit, Michigan. Day after day, those living in Detroit run for cover (with 15 seconds notice of the impending rockets). Day after day, the citizens of Detroit are living in fear that every

minute could be their last one. And day after day, people are sent to the hospital with (at best) shock and (in the worst case) loss of life. How long do you think the USA would put up with this? How long do you think the USA would sit and talk to the murderers from across the border? I will tell you: about five minutes.

The Marines, Air Force and any other military might at America's disposal would be sent in to stop the murder of innocent civilians. And the world would understand. And the world would not condemn the US for excessive force. And the world would not say that the US acted disproportionately. Do you know why? Because rational people understand that a sovereign nation has a right - a duty - to protect its citizens.

Now, let us look back at Israel. When Israel takes measures to defend its citizens, as always, the world tells them to roll over and play dead. Condemnation, "excessive force," "disproportionate" - all epithets hurled at Israel.

I am not sure you are aware of this, but right now, at this very moment, while Hamas and Fatah murderers send rockets into Israel, Israel is sending 62 truckloads of humanitarian aid to Gaza. Thousands of units of blood and other medical supplies, as well as basic food items were brought through the Sufa crossing in these 62 trucks from Israel.

That's right, Israel sends humanitarian aid to its enemy. Is there any other country on Earth that would consider that?

So, Mr. Secretary-General, I am deeply offended and angered by your comments condemning Israel for defending its citizens. I suggest that UN a fact-finding mission, under your leadership, should visit Sderot and Ashkelon. See first hand what is happening. Then come back and see whom you condemn.
