A French court yesterday ordered the publishers of an encyclopedia-like reference book called Quid to remove from its next edition a revisionist historian's claim that the figure of six million Jewish Holocaust deaths was grossly exaggerated. Associated Press reports that five French Jewish groups took legal actions against the book's publishers, claiming that French law forbids the publishing of revisionist theories. While the court ruled that the publishers of Quid did not have to retract the 300,000 copies of its 2003 edition, they would be forced to remove the passages in its 2004 edition, as well as from its Internet website. A representative of the Jewish groups said he was satisfied by the court's decision.
