"Eftekharee Yahood, zabounieh Eslam ast." - "The rise of the Jew is humiliation for Islam."

This is the gist of the Arab-Israeli conflict. It is not a matter of territories, not a matter of economic hardship and most certainly not a matter of aspiration for an independent state. It is all about defeated and humiliated Islamic egos.

The so-called Palestinians are a pawn in the hands of the rest of the Islamic countries, who are obsessed with destroying the State of Israel and subjugating the Jews to the level of second-class citizenship, as it was in the past. And the sooner the dreamers among our people realize that the better.

I am an American Jew, born and raised in Iran. My mother and all my grandparents are from Shoshan habirah from the Scroll of Esther. I am the descendant of the same people who, with unity and humility toward G-d, miraculously managed to avert their own would-be Holocaust at the hands of Haman some thousand years ago.

I always marvel at the extremities that have plagued the Ashkenazi Jews. On the one hand, you see them following the dark tradition of dressing up in the garb of the same "noble" Poles who atrociously persecuted them; and on the other hand, you see them conducting Shabbat services on Sundays. You see the selfless settlers, the kedoshim, and you see the shameful dreamers, the self-deluding ones. All this, in my humble opinion, does not compute.

The record of the European Jews in the matter of survival leaves much to be desired. Granted, they survived the pogroms, the Inquisitions, the Cossacks, the Nazis, but by a very narrow margin and with tremendous loss. Am I concerned about their wisdom and ability to navigate this time around? You bet I am.

It seems that the dreamers of today have picked up where the "enlightened ones" of the past left off. The fools who think that the Arab neo-Nazis are ready to tango with them have replaced the fools who thought that they were Germans first and waltzed up to the ovens. With all due respect, as we say in Persian, "Khar hamman kharee, pallan avaz shod." ("The donkey is the same donkey; only the saddle has changed.")

And as for the champion of the fools, Mr. Shimon Peres, I will leave you with another Persian expression that sums him up: "Gave noh man shir." ("The cow that produces nine gallons of milk, but spills everything with a kick.")

You bet I am furious. It is about time that some Middle-Eastern terms find their way into the lexicon of this conflict.
