Eretz Yisrael is described as ?a good land where you will not lack anything.? (Deuteronomy 8:7-9)

Seemingly, there are some who see numerous shortcomings in Eretz Yisrael. Truthfully, however, Eretz Yisrael will never lack anything, for it contains everything. As the Ba?al HaTurim taught, Eretz Yisrael will never lack anything, but the wicked will be lacking wherever they are, as it says, ?The righteous eat until they are satisfied, but the belly of the wicked shall want.? (Proverbs 13:25)

In Eretz Yisrael, the soul is exposed to the all-encompassing perspective, the ability to view everything, from start to finish, from one end of the world to the other, at a glance. We must observe how past, present and future are all one element, linked together and inseparable. Such a perspective illuminates the world and the soul, and the Torah long ago alluded to that when it said, ?G-d saw all that He had done, and it was very good.? (Genesis 1:31) This all-encompassing perspective is the special blessing reaped by the nation?s patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Here in this world, G-d gave them a taste of the World-to-Come (Bava Batra 17a).

Today, we are finally meriting to return to the land of our life?s blood, the land in which G-d?s Kingdom is revealed to all, and from which G-d?s light and goodness go forth to all mankind - Eretz Yisrael. It is first and foremost of all lands, which shall never lack anything.

Our sages and prophets long ago informed us that when we returned to our land to fulfill our destiny of illuminating the world, the nations would rise up against us, as it says, ?Why are the nations in an uproar? Why do the peoples mutter in vain? against the L-rd and against His anointed?? (Psalm 2:1-2)

They prophesied that the Children of Darkness would rise up to snuff out the light of the world, the Jewish People, as they are trying to do today. Yet all those same prophets and wise men have likewise promised us that ultimately the Jewish People will emerge victorious and the light will nullify the darkness.

Let us all merit a new light over Zion!
