"They teeter in vision," said Isaiah. "They totter in judgment."

Great and true prophets, like Isaiah, speak for their own times, and for all times. Like today, where the top newsman at CNN admits that his network played footsie with Saddam. Writing in the New York Times, Eason Jordan drooled about CNN's withholding news of Iraqi atrocities so that CNN could go on broadcasting from Baghdad.

For ten years, Jordan conceded, CNN reported mostly Saddam's half of the story. Reporters were warned that if they told the truth they'd be gone... or worse. This appeasement to the forces of terror is nothing less than a Media Jihad. Media manipulation? You bet. Out in the open. Are we shocked, shocked that we've been misinformed and disinformed?

Who knows what else we're not being told? For this Media Jihad is not exclusive to Baghdad. Almost all the news reported from Israel is manipulated. We have it from document to document that Arab correspondents are firstly Arabs. In other words, propagandists. We also have it that Western correspondents in Israel are coerced, at the point of a gun, to lie and deceive in order to perpetuate Palestinian Arab victimhood.

Think Jenin, that fraudulent "massacre" that was swallowed whole by the Media Jihad -- and was passed along to a receptive world. Or think of that Palestinian Arab being beaten by an Israeli soldier. Turns out that this "Arab" was really an "Israeli" running from an Arab mob. But this, too, was reported falsely.

Attributing Trotsky (of all people), Mailer writes that "you can tell the truth by a comparison of the lies."

But what if it's all lies?

Yes, they do totter in judgment, like journalist David Newman. Upon his departure from the Jerusalem Post, he complained that the Post is anti-Palestinian state, anti-Europe, anti-BBC, anti-New York Times, anti-Guardian.

This is just a wild guess, but I?ll bet the Jerusalem Post is even anti-Hitler.

Newman was a left-wing mainstay at the Post, and he's obviously had enough of right-wingers, who actually believe that Israel means Jewish. Newman belongs to the "compassionate" Left. The rest of us keep forgetting that the moral high ground belongs to "humanitarians" in love with a nation of homicide bombers.

Do they teeter in vision?

A couple of weeks ago the headline writers at Haaretz outdid Amira Hass herself. The headline went something like this: "Palestinians' Worst Nightmares Come True." To save on Valium, most of us skip Amira Hass. But once in a while... what the heck! Right away, in her first paragraph, she writes that those Palestinian nightmares have not come true -- about being deported as the world turns to Iraq. Did not come true.

Need more totter in judgment?

How about those fans of the "Road Map To Perdition," starring Powell, Blair, Sharon and A Cast of Thousands. Will someone please tell these guys that when you subtract Iraq, but add "Palestine," the score is still even in the game of terror? You?ve merely substituted one terrorist state for another.

Back to David Newman. After (or maybe before) mentioning the BBC, the New York Times and the Guardian, he says most of the media is right-wing.

To which one can only say -- ?huh?? Or, whatever happened to Maureen Dowd? She used to be so good. Writing for the New York Times, now also famous for Half The News That's Fit To Print, she delights in mocking Bush. Her latest is a howler. She tries to label the "Bushies" as war-lovers, and in so doing she brings up the movie Lawrence of Arabia. Lawrence (Peter O'Toole) says that he killed someone, and that he "enjoyed it," an evil inclination that Maureen Dowd likens to the Bush administration. But -- attention fact-checkers at the Times -- here's the part she got so terribly wrong:

When O'Toole said that line, Maureen, he was not giddy. He was disgusted at himself. That's why he did not want to go back to the fight. You got it all backwards, Maureen.

But don't they all.
