arab terrorists (specifically those that call themselves 'palestinian') have murdered at least 39 American citizens since they made the "peace of hudaybiyah" with the signing of the 1993 oslo accords. A total of at least 106 Americans have been murdered by 'palestinian' arab terrorists, and 119 wounded, since 1968. These are civilian figures, and do not include the approximately 250 US marines killed in Lebanon with 'palestinian' assistance, among others. This also doesn't include the machine-gun murders, on arafat's personal orders, of US Ambassador Cleo Noel and Charges d'affaires George Curtis in Khartoum.
When ahmed hijazi, a terrorist who happened to have American citizenship, along with a few other terrorists, were killed by a Hellfire missile from a CIA Predator drone, the opinion in the US was more or less that it was too bad that a terrorist that got killed happened to be an American citizen. It was kind of an embarrassment to decent American citizens. The Hellfire missile was largely seen as more of a solution than a problem.
The recent death of an American-flag-burning terrorist who also happened to also be an American citizen may bring up another obvious question.
Unfortunately, she has not been widely identified as a terrorist yet. haaretz newspaper even called her a 'peace protester.' This definition may be more accurate than haaretz intended. Like most of the other terrorists in Occupied Gaza, if there was one thing she was protesting against, it was peace. Her last act was to attempt to physically stop an Israeli military action intended to prevent arab terrorist snipers from murdering Jews. She died trying to help arabs murder Jews.
As Paul Johnson explains:
"Almost all intellectuals profess to love humanity and to be working for its improvement and happiness. But it is the idea of humanity they love, rather than the actual individuals who compose it. They love humanity in general rather than men and women in particular. Loving humanity as an idea, they can then produce solutions as ideas. Therein lies the danger, for when people conflict with the solution as idea, they are first ignored or dismissed as unrepresentative; and then, when they continue to obstruct the idea, they are treated with growing hostility and categorized as enemies of humanity in general."
When that happens, as it did with the recently bulldozed terrorist, it is but a small step to justify helping arab terrorists murder innocent Jews. It was a step that she took, and then acted upon.
When a hundred innocent American civilians are murdered by arabs in the middle east, there is silence.
When a US ambassador is murdered in cold blood on the orders of arafat by machine gunning him to death - slowly, starting at his legs and only gradually working up to more vital targets - and Israel has the order from arafat on tape, and the US has the order from arafat on tape, and arafat himself has bragged about it, there is silence.
When one of the enemies of society has his goose cooked by the flames of a Hellfire missile, we say "well done."
If another terrorist is killed - and unlike all of these other examples, it is an accident - and there then arises an outcry, the reason for the outcry must lie in a difference in the situation.
moslems and Christians are expected to kill their enemies. Jews are expected to give their enemies land to shoot Jews from, guns to shoot Jews with, universities to train the bomb-belt makers, and funding to support the families of departed genocide bombers. When (surprise) a Jew is murdered, the entire Jewish people are supposed to humbly take the blame for making a poor arab angry enough to kill. When non-moslems rise up with the terrorists to assist them, we are castigated for impeding them in any way.
We Jews are blamed for interfering when these unlawful combatants are smuggling armed men, weapons, and bomb belts hidden under arab children, or even shooting from red crescent ambulances.
We are blamed for interfering when these unlawful combatants, also 'peace protestors', are smuggling terrorists from the church of the nativity, after spying on Israeli troop positions and then reporting them to the terrorists inside.
We are blamed for interfering with those unlawful combatants who are paid by the united nations to be accomplices in the kidnaping and attacking of Jews. We are blamed by these same unlawful combatants for not helping them enough as they provide intelligence to our islamic terrorist enemies in Hebron to assist them in their attacks against Jews. Or when they shoot at Jews from united nations buildings.
And we will probably be blamed for interfering with a student who only wanted to help the poor arabs murder more Jews.
In the good old days, things were much simpler. In times of war, unlawful combatants have traditionally been executed when captured. Even the much bandied about geneva convention is very clear about who it protects - and who it doesn't. The sensible people who wrote it knew that spies, enemy combatants who operated without uniforms, and others of their ilk would always be granted the benefit of a due process that, if they were fortunate, began with interrogation, before attaining closure through the unhappy end of a rifle.
To trot out the venerable Johnson one last time:
"enemies invariably lie among those who, for whatever motive, deny, distort, minimize, exaggerate or poison the truth, and who falsify the processes of reason. At all times civilization has its enemies, though they are constantly changing their guise and their weapons. The great defensive art is to detect and unmask them before the damage they inflict becomes fatal."
Perhaps with the benefit of hindsight, Mr. Johnson would now amend this to include the enlistment of heavy earth-moving equipment in the defense of truth.
