As we speak, Militant Islam is premeditating its next vicious attempts to kill Jews, Christians, Hindus and other "infidels." This manifests itself in vicious terrorist attacks against the Western democratic world, especially India and Israel. Although last year there were over 50,000 terrorist attacks in India, including a fatal one against the Indian Parliament, the world seems focused on the Arab-Israeli conflict, which is only one part of radical Islam?s attempt to subvert the democratic world.
I can't even keep up with the number of terrorist acts the Arab world has perpetrated upon civilization, and Israel in particular. Israel has been facing this menace on a daily basis for the last 2½ years, and the end is not in sight. Yet, there is no justification for suicide-homicide bomber however much suffering the Arab Palestinians claim but which they have brought upon themselves.
As I began to write these words, almost three weeks ago, another suicide-homicide act was perpetrated in Haifa, killing 16 innocent people on a bus. Among the dead were Yuval Mendelevitch, 13, and an American Christian called Abigail Leitel, 14, both of whom were participating in the Children Teaching Children program of the Jewish-Arab Center for Peace at Givat Haviva, a program striving for pluralism, tolerance, and coexistence. With yet another bombing, Israeli hopes for living side-by-side with the Arab Palestinians died for the thousandth time. Still, the leftist appeasers just don't seem to get it.
It appears that the suicide-homicide culture is deeply entrenched and widely justified, according to the majority of the Arab Palestinians. The Palestinian leadership, with the support of the Arab world, chooses to express its ideology, art, and literature via vile affronts to humanity, and toward Israel in particular. The culture of "Jew-killing" is so well entrenched within Palestinian culture, that security for Israel is not possible short of a total non-contiguous separation between the two peoples. How can Israelis be expected to live side-by-side with those constantly threatening them?
Why does the Left constantly ignore the Palestinians' lack of humanity, decency, and morality? There can never be any justification of such savagery; It must be stopped immediately, and by all means.
The need to deal with the hordes reared in a suicide/homicide-breeding culture is dire. It takes precedence over any other political problem. Yet, this crystal clear reality escapes some intellectuals, whom I call "intellectual terrorists" because of their support for terrorists, at least tacitly. The appeasers use flawed etiology to twist cause and effect and have also set out to de-legitimize Israel as a Jewish national homeland. The appeasers put the onus on the firemen instead of on the arsonist. Expecting to "sweet talk" our way out of this mess is pure folly.
I wish an answer could be found easily and by peaceful means. However, history teaches that a love affair between the Palestinian Arabs and Israelis is nonexistent - if there ever was one. It has fallen apart, completely shattered. The Israeli government was forced to build a wall to separate the two people for temporary relief. Yet, the problem lies in the decay caused by decades of an Arab education of hate, lies and a "kill the infidel" mentality.
Arabs who refuse to live in peace with Israel must relocate to other lands -- and as far away as possible, if need be. Terrorism must be fought and fought relentlessly. A military solution is the only viable option to combat and abate continuous horrific terrorism. There should be no compromise in dealing with terrorists or those who harbor them.
To the appeasers who claim that Israel commits "state terrorism," let it be known that Israel acts with the highest regard for human rights. Considering the horrific and continual barbarism Israel has had to face since its re-establishment as the Jewish State, she has acted with remarkable restraint.
President Bush, please know this: the Israelis and the Arab Palestinians cannot live side by side in peace. This is a proven fact. It's time to face it. Your vision of a Palestinian state in the heart of Israel is not feasible, considering the nearly century-old experience of vicious Arab hatred and terrorism. Additional decades of living side-by-side with a Palestinian state will destroy both Israel and the Arab Palestinians. It will merely be a preparation for a future, more devastating "Intifada 3". How much more blood must be spilled for you to realize this?
Here is a viable and reasonable solution. All predominately Arab Palestinians cities and towns, except Jerusalem, should become confederated, like Puerto Rico is with the USA, with the already existing Arab "Palestinian" State west of the Jordan River called Jordan. Gaza was originally part of and contiguous with Egypt. It should rejoin Egypt.
A major international economic effort should organized to boost the economies of the Jordanian Palestinian State and the Gaza region of Egypt, so that the refugees can be resettled and the humanitarian situation resolved. The wealthy Arab countries should be compelled to do what they should have done half-a-century ago.
Since 1948, the international community, including America, European Community and the United Nations, have donated billions of dollars to help solve the Arab "Palestinian" refugee problem. They have failed miserably. These refugees are no better off today than they were half a century ago. The reason? The Arab nations, who began or encouraged the conflict with Israel and are thus responsible for creating the "Palestinian" refugees, are the very ones who have done nothing to help.
The time has come for the Arab world to share the huge chunk of the Ottoman Empire they received in the early 20th century -- about 1,250,000 sq. miles - with their Arab-Palestinian brothers and sisters. The time has come for the Arab world to invest their resources in democracy and freedom instead of financing an international "kill-the-infidel" culture. On this there must be no compromise or appeasement. The Arab World has enough land and oil. What the Arab World lacks is the will to live in peace with themselves, in general, and with non-Muslims, in particular.
The Arab World may never relinquish their obsessive quest to destroy Israel even at the cost of impoverishing their people and inculcating them with hatred towards Israel and the US, thus destroying the hopes of a generation of their own children. If the proposed division of Judea and Samaria creates a second Palestinian state, it will be short lived and a disaster for all.
