Despite a recent decision by the Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, to transfer troops from the al-Jazeera Shield armed forces to Kuwait, in order to protect the oil sheikhdom from Saddam Hussein, a Saudi prince would rather see the Arab world send troops to protect Iraq from America.

Arabicnews.com reported this week on a televised appeal by Saudi Arabian prince Sultan bin Turkey bin ?Abdul ?Aziz, carried on Qatar?s al-Jazeera satellite station, that the Arab states send military forces to Iraq, to help protect the Hussein dictatorship from the US. The Saudi prince made his call ahead of an upcoming Arab League Summit.

According to Prince Sultan, ?if brotherly Iraq falls, not too far behind that all countries of the region will meet the same fate.? He explained that the Arab states must find their own, independent solutions to the problems of the region. The solutions he envisioned, he said, included ?protecting Iraq and... solving the Palestinian question.?
