Victor Komodraznikov was inducted into the Israel Defense Forces last month. For most Israelis in their late teens, that is just another life milestone, but for Victor Komodraznikov it is a victory over terrorism.

On June 1, 2001, Victor was standing in line outside the now-familiar Dolphinarium discotheque. When the Arab terrorist exploded among the crowd of Israeli youth at the disco, Victor lost his best friend, Diaz Normanov, age 20, and suffered ear injuries and severe shock. His spiritual scarring was eventually diagnosed as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and entitled him to a exemption from army service.

However, Victor, who had arrived in Israel on his own initiative a few years ago, decided that he had to serve. He wrote a personal letter to then-Chief of Staff Shaul Mofaz and received permission to serve in the IDF. On December 23, 2002, Victor Komodraznikov was inducted into the Israel Defense Forces.

The Jewish Agency Fund for Victims of Terror has enabled Victor to purchase ?both the large and small things that will make his service easier,? according to an Agency press release, and the Agency even provided him with someone to accompany him to the IDF induction center.
