During a December 31 meeting between the director of the Ministry of Tourism and the leadership of AMEN - an umbrella organization of Hispanic Evangelicals in the United States - it was agreed that a group of fifteen leading administrators of the organization will arrive in Israel in April for a groundbreaking tour. The tour, based around visits to Christian interest sites combined with vacationing, is a pilot trip that is to bring in its wake many religious Christian tour groups from the North and South American Hispanic communities. The initial group will come to Israel at the invitation of the Tourism Ministry.
AMEN head John Mendez is due to arrive in Israel in February to plan three appropriate touring schedules with Ministry officials. The tours are most likely to focus on sites in Jerusalem, Tiberias, and Safed. Mendez would also like to combine the tours with investigation and study of mysticism and Kabbalah, in which he expressed particular interest.
