The spirit of Jewish solidarity is alive and well in Atlanta, Georgia. This winter, fifteen families - about sixty people in all - from the southern US state decided to spend their winter vacations in Israel. Each family had made individual plans to come to the country, unbeknownst to the others. When the families, who generally meet each other at school board meetings or synagogue fundraisers, discovered their mutual plans, they decided to coordinate part of their trips.

The Atlanta Jews will be staying in different places around Israel, but they have organized two days of touring together. What started as individual trips to the homeland, turned into a travel experience as an organized group of friends. One member of the impromptu tour group said, ?We are all thrilled to be able to have the opportunity to bring ourselves, children and our dollars to spend in the land we all long for.?
