Israeli firms Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), Rafael (the Israel Armament Development Authority), and Elbit Systems are all ranked in the top 50 defense companies in the world, reports Globes, Israel?s financial newspaper. The ranking is based on sales figures, as supplied by the companies ranked. Accordingly, the Israeli leader, IAI, is ranked number 29 in the world, with $1.3 billion in defense sales and $2.08 billion in overall sales. Globes reports that two other Israeli defense industry companies made it into the top 100, as well - Israel Military Industries and Elisra Electronic Systems.

The American firm Lockheed-Martin was ranked first among defense corporation sales, followed by another US company, Boeing and BAE Systems of the UK.
