Eastman Kodak?s new professional digital camera (DCS Pro 14n) will provide photographers with an image resolution up to seven times greater than the current standard for amateur digital cameras, thanks to Tower Semiconductor, based in Migdal HaEmek, at the foot of the mountains of the Lower Galilee. Globes reports that the sensor that provides the high resolution is ?a giant in terms of silicon components....? The difficulty in manufacturing such sensors is the chance of more flaws creeping into the component as size increases, notes Globes. However, Tower has succeeded in giving Kodak the requisite size and precision for its high resolution camera.
