The Egyptian Gazette contends that President is manufacturing enemies in an attempt to deflect criticism from his failed Middle East policies. The entire world understands that settling the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is the key to Middle East stability. Yet, to cover up his failure in achieving peace, Mr. Bush has arbitrarily decided that the ouster of Saddam Hussein is good for the world.

While failing to build a credible case against Iraq, he has moved the toppling of the Baghdad government to the top of his foreign policy agenda. One of the key reasons that the US is hell-bent on invading Iraq and installing a loyal regime there is its resolve to bridle Iran, which has been a thorn in the American side for well over two decades."The pugnacious US must be disabused of the illusion that the road to ME stability starts with Baghdad."

Al Akhbar suggests that September 11 was the pretext for the US to find a new enemy to replace the now-defunct Soviet Union: first terrorism, now Iraq. The author adds that "...only by re-joining the community of international legitimacy can the US use its power to earn the respect and friendship of people around the globe instead of triggering hatred and animosity as it does now."
