Two major environmental events will be held in Tel Aviv in the coming months. One of them is a conference that will also be an opportunity to promote Italian-Israeli relations, while the other is an international exhibition held at the city?s Exhibition Gardens.

The Israel-Italy Environmental Conference, scheduled for October 14 and 15, is to address scientific, commercial and public policy-making decisions regarding environmental issues. In particular, the conference will focus on water policy, wastewater and solid waste disposal policies, and the prevention of air pollution. Israeli and Italian companies and environmental activists are expected to participate in the conference.

From December 17 through 19, the Tel Aviv Exhibition Grounds will host Environment 2002: The 2nd International Exhibition for Environmental Technologies. State-of-the-art technologies for Israeli and international environmental industries will be on display at the exhibition. Thus far, organizers report good responses from the environmental sector and, if last year?s attendance will be repeated or exceeded this year, more than 40,000 visitors can be expected to attend. Environment 2002 will be, like its predecessor, the professional ?summit meeting? for companies involved in the field of environmental protection.

The exhibition is organized by the Israel Trade Fairs & Convention Center, under the auspices of the Minister of the Environment, the Israel Export Institute, the Manufacturers' Association of Israel and the Israel Economic Forum for the Environment. As the Enviroment 2002 website so beautifully puts it, the exhibition ?provides an opportunity to become acquainted with Israel's technological companies and at the same time an extraordinary chance to explore the beauty of our country.?
