The Abu Dhabi newspaper Gulf News turns history on its head with an article entitled, ?Study reveals Israeli bid to steal Palestinian history.? The article is a report regarding the publication of a ?study which reveals Israeli attempts to steal Palestinian history, entitled Chasing History: Israel and Palestinian Antiquities?? according to Gulf News. The study was prepared and published by the Zayed Centre for Coordination and Follow-Up (ZCCF) and supports the idea that Zionists have as a national goal ?to erase the world memory of Arab Palestine,? the newspaper reports. The Centre is reported to be ?under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed al-Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister? of the United Arab Emirates.

The Abu Dhabi publication prefaces its report by explaining, ?Prior to the establishment of Israel, the Zionist movement was convinced that establishing a Zionist entity based on 'Torah' legends of returning to the promised land would not be complete by just stealing the geography of Palestine.? The newspaper warns, ?It is not impossible for those who have robbed a nation of its country, to rob them of their history as well.? According to Gulf News, documents how ??The Israelis have resorted to changing names of villages, towns and streets and Palestinian relics and antiquities. They even attempted at demolishing al-Aqsa Mosque to build their so-called Solomon Temple,? says the study.?

According to the article, ?the imagination of Jews to search for the remains of ?The Solomon's Temple??? is what led to the ?arrival of the first wave of European settlers in Palestine at the end of the 19th century?? They were drawn here, the Abu Dhabi newspaper reported, ?[i]n the wake of the Napoleon campaign in Egypt in 1897?? It is that need to find Jewish remnants, according to the study, that ended up ?sowing the seeds of the Arab-Israeli conflict.?

Yet, antiquities in Israel are just the start of a larger campaign, warns the Gulf newspaper, saying that the study claims that ?Israeli attempts to erase Palestinian antiquities and destroy their heritage are preludes to spreading Israeli claims of re-establishing a Zionist state on the lands of the Biblical kingdom of David, extending from the Nile in the West to the Euphrates in the East.?

Gulf News concludes and reports that Dr. Marwan Moasher, Jordanian Foreign Minister, ?lauded the efforts by, expressed pride and satisfaction in, the centre's contribution in exploring avenues for dialogue among various visions and civilisations in the world.?
