Last Thursday, the Saudi Arabian daily al-Watan had words of warning regarding ?Christian extremism? in the United States. Such extremism, the paper said, ?has been on the increase? in America. A sign of this increase, in the view of al-Watan was the leaked report presented in the Pentagon, which characterized Saudi Arabia as an enemy of the US.
The Saudi newspaper warned that ?Christian extremism? is just as dangerous for world peace and security as other religious extremism. In fact, al-Watan declares, ?its danger will be much greater if it controls the policy of a country like the USA.? And the Saudi newspaper implies that such control is already being consolidated: ?a group of Christian men of religion and politicians is using political pressure on the American administration in a way to ensure the realization of prophecies. They constitute a grave danger to the Middle East peace process, because they stand as a bulwark before any peace initiative that will solve the Palestinian question, peacefully.?
