ArabicNews.com reported on two expressions of dedicated adherence to the principle of territorial integrity ? and against the idea of ?land for peace? ? at least when it comes to Arab states.

According to the report, the king of the Gulf emirate of Bahrain, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa, said that his country stands ?firmly beside Morocco in its efforts to maintain sovereignty over its territories.? He made the comments at the start of a visit to Morocco, designed to deepen ties between the two states, at opposite ends of the Arab world. At the airport, the Bahraini king said, ?Our talks with our brother His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco [will strengthen] the affection and cooperation ties existing between the two countries and the two peoples.?

Manwhile, another Arabicnews.com report said that Egypt, too, stands behind territorial integrity and against compromises in that regard ? in the case of Sudan. The Muslim Sudanese government recently signed an agreement with Christian and Animist ?rebel? forces in the country?s southern regions, represented by the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA), granting the local population ?self-determination.? The agreement comes after decades of mass slaughter of non-Muslim southerners by their northern, Muslim countrymen. Sudan insists this excludes cessation from the state, but Egypt is unconvinced.

According to Arabicnews.com, ?Egypt has stressed it stands ?strongly? for Sudan's unity and efforts aiming at ?fixing this policy and achieving stability in the context of one strong country.?? Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher was quoted as saying, in the name of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, ?that ?Egypt strongly stands with sister Sudan to achieve its stability and unity.? He added that Egypt ?stands with the Sudanese people in their efforts to fix this unity (in) the context of a strong Sudan that enjoys its full right and everyone harvest the yields of the national wealth.? He made the statement during a meeting with the Sudanese Minister of Information, Mahdi Ibrahim,

In the meanwhile, reports the news outlet, Sudanese forces marked their agreement with the Christian and Animist southerners by launching ?a large scale attack that resulted in more than 1000 killings,? according to ?rebel? claims.
