The following headlines were from [recent] this weekend?s news?
In the New York Times:
?Bush Urges Immediate Work on Palestinian State
By ELISABETH BUMILLER
President Bush said Saturday that the U.S. must start working immediately with Israelis and Palestinians toward establishing a Palestinian state.?
In The Wall Street Journal Online Edition:
?BUSH SAID he isn't prepared to offer a political timetable for the creation of a Palestinian state, rebuffing calls from Arab leaders. In the West Bank, Palestinian gunmen sprayed bullets through mobile homes, killing three.?
Do they read a little differently? Which one is more accurate?
Funny how the media can cloud the issue with headlines. It is yet another reason why people seeking an honest or at least admittedly less liberally biased view on the news are turning to the more conservative media outlets. Some polls say that CNN?s ratings are down 40% while Fox?s ratings are nearly double that of their liberal counterpart CNN, oft referred as the Canned News Network by detractors.
In the previous headlines, the Wall Street Journal?s is of course more accurate and tells a better representation of what the story is about and most importantly, what actually happened. The New York Time?s headline is completely false. Does it Matter? No.
In the backwash of books that have exposed the underbelly of the liberal media, little has been accomplished. Books like Coloring the News, Bias, and the soon-to-be-released book by Ann Coulter, Slander, have done nothing but entrench the old line liberals in their foxholes- having dug in for the fight. It is not a question of who is correct; it is a question of who will have the last voice to the American people.
It has been said that the best way to get some one to believe a lie is to continue telling it in bigger and bolder fashion. That?s what the media is doing with the news.
