The Jewish Agency for Israel, Jewish Solidarity Update (11 July 2002), ?Strengthening our spirit. Encouraging our friends,? reported that The Montreal Jewish Federation CJA donated $530,000 USD for security of Jerusalem educational institutions, and specifically, kindergartens, which are not eligible to receive Government security assistance under the law. According to the report, the UJC and individual Jewish Federations will transfer funds collected to the Jewish Agency Fund for Aid to Victims of Terror in Israel or to the Security for Educational Institutions Project.
Globes (July 10, 2002) reported that Motorola, Agere, and Infineon formed StarCore, a joint venture and development center in Israel. The new venture, to be called StarCore LLC, will develop and market digital signal processor (DSP) technologies. According to Globes, the new venture brings together three major processor and telecommunications firms. Agere, Lucent Technologies? microelectronics division, was split off from Lucent a year ago. Infineon was founded in 1999 as a semiconductor spinoff from Siemens.
Along the same lines, Olive Software, a 38% owned affiliate of Elbit Imaging's (Nasdaq: EMITF) signed agreements with 7 new customers, worth NIS 15m in total.
