A Hamas communiqu? of May 29, 2002, begins with the traditional Muslim opening ?In the name of Allah the most Gracious the most Merciful,? but then goes on to quote what appears to be a phrase from Moslem religious sources: ?Strongest among men in enmity to the Believers wilt thou find the Jews?? The press release calls to ?the Muslim Ummah,? saying that the ?Muslims? honor in Palestine is in danger.?
Hamas, the organization that has specialized in suicide bombing attacks on Jewish women and children, states that ?Practices of Zionist Jews in harming Muslim women had bypassed all red lines.? How have we done this? ?A group of Jewish jailers in the Nafha desert prison force Muslim women to strip before Jewish policewomen in contradiction with all human values and norms.? While admitting that it is female police officers searching the women in the prison, the Hamas communique still calls the procedure ?a flagrant violation of Muslim honor and Islamic values and limits.?
According to the Hamas release, the Israeli jailers ?intentionally followed this procedure with the wife of one of the Mujahideen from the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, on Tuesday 28/5/2002 when she went to visit her husband in the prison.? In other words, the Israeli jailers, who are identified by name in the communique, are ?accused? of strip searching the wife of an incarcerated terrorist before she met with him. This earns the wardens the title ?terrorist? in the Hamas understanding of the term.
As a result, Hamas announced that it sees the wardens ?directly responsible for this crime and we declare that they are henceforth wanted dead by Hamas. We ask our military wing the Qassam Brigades to carry out this order at any opportune time.? However, the communique clarifies, the death threat against three specific Israelis should not be misconstrued to constitute a rejection of the random killing of other Israelis or prison guards. ?This does not mean that the other Zionist Nazi workers in that prison are innocent nor that the mischievous Zionist entity, which would pay dearly, God willing, for its disgraceful violation of Muslims? honor is above suspicion,? the communique says.
