A delegation of senior economic officials from Great Britain were in Israel over the past week. The delegation included Lord David Young, chairman of the investment company Young Associates, Sir Victors Blank, Chairman of Great Universal Stores PLC, Chairman of the Lex Vehicle Leasing Company, Sir Trevor Chinn, British Chair of the British-Israel Business Council, and others. The high-powered delegation was here to lend their expertise and encouragement to an Israeli infrastructure project. Dan Gillerman, the president of the Israeli British Council, said that the visit is a sign of identification by the heads of the British economy with Israel. The delegates met with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Speaker of the Knesset Avraham Burg, government ministers, and business and economic leaders.
