The Israeli swimmer Vered Borochovsky has achieved both an Israeli record and earned a Bronze Medal for her 50-meter butterfly swim in the World Championship Swimming Finals in Moscow last week. Brorochovsky finished in 26.38 seconds, faster by one seven hundredth of a second than the previous Israeli record, also set by her. Borochovsky elected to forego competing in the 100 meter mixed freestyle in order to concentrate her efforts on the 50 meter butterfly. Apparently, the 17 year old swimmer made the right choice.
On Sunday, Borochovsky came in sixth in the 100-meter butterfly competition. Israeli swimmer Yoav Gat also placed sixth in the 200 meter backstroke competition in Sunday?s competitions. Anya Gostomelski, the Israeli swimmer in the 200-meter women?s backstroke competition finals, finished eighth. Gostomelski had earlier set an Israeli record during the semifinals.
