Last week, in a victory that was somewhat of a surprise, HaPoel Tel Aviv defeated Parma in Italy 2:1, putting the Israeli soccer team into the UEFA Cup Quarter Finals. As a result, the first game in the Quarter Finals will be held in Israel in one and a half weeks, at the Bloomfield sports stadium. Continuing their success, the team came home to take first place in the national league in a game against Beitar Yerushalayim yesterday.



Dror Kashtan, the HaPoel coach, was quoted as saying, ?We made history, we won in Italy? the UEFA Cup semi-finals ? that?s the next target we are aiming for.? Kashtan thanked the players, saying, ?We brought joy to the people of Israel, in the current situation the State is in.? Star player Yossi Abukassis said, ?I thank the Lord that He brought me to Hapoel Tel Aviv this season.?
