A committee of Saudis and Iranians met in Tehran last month to discuss economic cooperation and ties between the two Moslem states. The senior Iranian representative at the meeting, Minister of Trade Mohammad Sharia Madari, called for improved relations between the two countries for it could set the stage for stronger relations between Islamic states the world over. The Iranian minister also mentioned what he described as that which ?embodies the harmony and closeness between the Kingdom, Iran and the rest of the Islamic countries? ? the Palestinian issue and oil. He said that the common view of the leaders of Islamic states like Iran and Saudi Arabia on those two issues are the essence of the commonality among those states.
