Former Israeli Education Minister, Shulamit Aloni, told PLO leader Yasser Arafat that the task at hand now is to convey the Arab desire for peace to the Israeli people, reports the official news agency of the Palestinian Authority, Wafa. The PA report does not describe the Aloni-Arafat meeting, which took place in Ramallah last week, in any detail whatsoever, but rather consists of a series of statements attributed to the former Meretz leader.

Wafa reported that Shulamit Aloni said that she ?considered demolishing the Palestinian houses in Rafah as a crime against Humanity, stressing the need to internationally pursue and charge those who are responsible for such crimes.? She also called for Israel to lift closures on PA areas, according to the Wafa story, saying that only such measures can end the ?cycle of violence.? Aloni is quoted as saying, ?[he] who spends two billion dollars in developing the infrastructure can not be a terrorist and abet [sic] against others.?
