I?ve never been a ?woman of few words.? I think it?s a family trait. However, after seeing the carnage caused by the Arabs in recent terrorist attacks, I?m running out of words. So I?ve taken to listening to radio talk shows. I wanted to hear what Americans are saying while behind the screen of anonymity. As I see it, finally, we are at a turning point.
One of the reasons is that former Prime Minister Ehud Brak stupidly offered Yasser Arafat over 95% of everything on his ?wish list? and Arafat, unbelievably, walked away. By doing so, he showed the world the true goals of the Palestinian Authority, which is the demise of Israel. Nowadays, I listen to their leaders come out of the woodwork and rush to their favorite propaganda network, CNN. Frankly, I feel ill when I hear them repeating the mantra of ?The closures, blockades and assassinations have not lead to a solution.? Oh really? Well, neither did the Israeli arming of the Palestinians contribute to a solving of the problem much either. Just as the constant bombing of the caves in Afghanistan by the United States forces will not permanently solve the problem with the Taliban. It frustrates me when I hear American leaders talk about seeking out and capturing Bin Laden, as though that will solve the problem and his brand of terrorism will go away. Israel knows that although Arafat can be toppled, his regime, which gives power to those terrorists, has also got to be destroyed. Personally, my greatest wish would be for those barbaric, violent groups to break down in civil war and kill each other. Maybe that would keep them out of the Israeli cafes, children?s schools and buses with their strapped-on bombs. I?m tired of talking. I?m weary of the crocodile tears of Arafat rushing to donate his blood, as he did in the wake of the September 11th attack in the US, while his Palestinians dance in the streets and give out candy. I?m talked out.
But I?m still listening. What has amazed me the most is the change of attitude in the American radio hosts. Oh, the anti-Semites are still calling in and deploring the mistreatment of the Arabs at the hands of the mighty Israeli forces, but, more and more, I?m noticing the radio hosts have done their homework are more familiar with the true situation in that part of the world. Maybe in light of our present actions in Afghanistan, they realize how hypocritical those in America would be to repeat the call for Israel to ?show restraint?. The US is, as it should be, sending in troops to try and curtail the animals that bombed American civilians a short time ago. It is unthinkable that the American government would even consider reining in the IDF in any effort to pander and patronize the Arabs, as is usually the case.
It?s just a shame that it took a national tragedy like the Twin Towers bombings to influence the attitudes of the callers on the talk radio shows, but that seems to be the case. Since that event, I feel the general public has become more aware of the pressures that Israel has been under since its inception. Had the US government been less concerned with being politically correct regarding the nations that harbor these terrorists, the situation might be different today. Israel has long known what our talk show callers seem to be just beginning to realize: So many of America?s Arab allies are in reality parties to covert operations and funding of the very terrorists we are targeting. The US should join forces with Israel fighting this war more seriously, eliminating these problems now, while they can, before it?s too late.
