Two delegations, from Boston and Washington DC, came to Israel last week to express their solidarity with the Jewish State.

The solidarity mission from Washington DC was made up of ninety prominent philanthropists and administration officials. During the group?s visit to Beit Shemesh, and in the presence of Mayor Daniel Vaknin, one of the city parks was renamed ?Pentagon Park? in memory of the victims of the September 11th terror attacks in the United States. Beit Shemesh and the Adulam region were twinned with the Washington and South African Jewish communities, as part of the Jewish Agency?s Partnership 2000 program.

The Boston Jewish community is partnered with Haifa, in the context of the Partnership 2000 program, and a delegation from that city arrived in Haifa last week. Among the 150 members of the solidarity mission are 32 Bostoners who are investigating aliyah possibilities. Their trip began with a gala evening at the Haifa Convention Center, attended by Mayor Amram Mitzna. According to the Jewish Agency?s weekly report ?Global Jewish Agenda?, ?The Boston Jewish community has been active in the Haifa partnership for a decade, promoting absorption and welfare services in the area? as part of a long-standing involvement in the city.?
