The leader of the extreme right, anti-foreigner Austrian Freedom Party, Jorg Haider, was in Syria last week for meetings with Syrian officials. The Austrian politician, along with his entourage, met with Syrian Minister of Information Adnan Omran, reports SANA, the official Syrian news agency. According to SANA, Haider and Omran discussed ?recent developments at the regional as well as international [level].?
SANA further reported that Omran ?reiterated Syria's principled and firm stances? as well as her rejection of all forms of terrorism and serious search for convening an international conference as to draw lines between resistance as the legitimate right of people to resist occupation and terrorism.? Saying that he ?highly appreciated Syria?s stances? on behalf of just causes, reports SANA, the Freedom Party leader asserted that ?the election of Syria to the UN Security Council membership is a testimony for her correct stances and pivotal roles [sic].?
