The twists and turns of Jewish immigration and migration, along with the determination of an immigrant woman from Ethiopia, eventually brought together a woman and her father in the land of Israel. The father, who had been imprisoned and tortured in Sudanese jails when the authorities discovered that he was Jewish, recently made his way from the Sudan to Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia, where he was brought to Israel through the offices of the Jewish Agency. In Israel, he was reunited with his daughter, who commented, ?I am so happy, my father is home.?

The incredible story begins when the daughter, Obanesh Wonzter, left her family home in Ethiopia, at the age of 17, in search of her father, who had disappeared in Sudan when Obanesh was two years old. Once in Sudan, the young woman married an Ethiopian Christian man and bore him two children. After having separated from her husband, Obanesh walked, pregnant and with two little children, from Sudan to the Gondar province of Ethiopia. From there, she made aliyah to Israel during Operation Solomon.

Once in Israel, Obanesh was reunited with her mother and sisters, yet she still wanted to find her missing father. One year ago, an Ethiopian who visited Israel told her that her father had been seen in Sudan. The devoted daughter told the Jewish Agency, ?I decided that come what may, I would bring him to Israel.? Disguised as an Arab wayfarer, the Israeli immigrant made her way to the Sudanese border. After bribing the right people, she eventually found her father in a village along the border. She convinced him to make his way to the Ethiopian capital, and from there to Israel.
