The Jewish Agency will be making absorption centers available over the High Holiday period, which starts on Monday night, to immigrant soldiers who do not have family in Israel. In addition, about one thousand lone soldiers who immigrated through Jewish Agency programs will be receiving gift parcels from the Agency in honor of the Jewish New Year. Each immigrant soldier will receive the care package at the absorption center that he went to when he arrived in Israel or through the military mail.

Jewish Agency programs for army-age immigrants help them to integrate and prepare for university in Israel. Immigrant youth who have participated in Jewish Agency programs have successfully integrated in various units of the Israel Defense Forces, including combat units. Of those immigrant youth who participate in the Jewish Agency absorption programs, 23 percent elect to serve in the IDF before beginning their university studies.
