Egyptian editorialists offer some tactical advice to the PLO and associated terrorists: continue suicide bombings in Israeli cities and engage in house-to-house fighting in Palestinian Authority areas.

The PLO, says an editorial in the Egyptian newspaper al-Wafd, must recognize the advantages it has gained ?by having a base to rely on and a people to support.? One of the main advantages, al-Wafd points out, is the ability to transform the PLO war strategy from one of hit-and-run to ?a street-to-street war in which Israel is given the bitter taste of daily defeat.? In the view of the author of the editorial, only the adoption of such a strategy of street battles can make ?the chapter of Zionist presence in Palestine reach its conclusion.?

Not only gun battles in the street, but even the suicide bombing of Israeli women and children, who are all ?accomplices in the crime of the robbery of Palestine [have we forgotten?] not to mention that they are reservists who turn into fighters and killers at the drop of a dime,? is a praiseworthy strategic link in the Arab struggle against Israel, opines an Egyptian editorial in the government daily, al-Ahram. The article, titled ?I Cannot Hide My Happiness about the Martyrdom Operation that Took Place in Jerusalem?, called the terrorist attack in the Sbarro pizzeria in Jerusalem ?a ray of hope and a life-saver.?

"My happiness has a number of reasons,? continues the Islamist editorial, ?The first is that the attack in Jerusalem was a painful blow for the Israeli enemy. This reason alone is sufficient to bring joy to someone like me, since every blow that hurts Israel, wherever it comes from, brings joy to me and to any Arab citizen who has not lost his memory, consciousness or conscience - due to the will to avenge and to even out the accumulating account that began when the robbery occurred half a century ago.?

Secondly, the editorial praises the timing of the suicide bombing, for it came at a time of ?humiliation and shame in the Arab world,? but the attack made everyone realize that ?another type of reaction is possible, one that speaks to the Israelis in a language

they understand.? The Sbarro bombing was the only ?remaining sign of life in the Arab nation? If we can still lift our heads with pride, it is only because we still have as models those young men who chose to die so that our lives would have hope and meaning and so that our long night will see a dawn with a message of hope.?

Thirdly, the attack ?carried a strong message for those ruled by pride, namely that the

Israeli victory is not absolute, that the struggle continues and that 'Palestinian despair' is nothing more than a rumor spread by the Israelis.?

In short, the terrorist bombing of Jewish men, women and children at a pizzeria is ?martyrdom, legitimate and sublime.?
