A subsidiary of Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) signed a $60 million contract to provide advanced electronic systems to the Royal Australian Air Force. The subsidiary, Elta Electronics will supply a system designed to provide instantaneous 360-degree surveillance and tracking of a variety of airborne and surface targets. The project will be carried out in conjunction with BAE Systems Australia.

In another deal worth $60 million, GE-IAI Aviation Services International, a company formed by GE Engine Services and IAI, was contracted to provide aircraft and engine maintenance services, for a period of seven years, to Southeast Airlines.

The maintenance of the aircraft frame will be handled by IAI and engine work will be carried out by IAI and GE's joint maintenance shop in Petropolis, Brazil. The GE-IAI collaboration was born of the common desire to provide a full-service maintenance address for airlines around the world. Southeast Airlines operates flights from Florida and throughout the United States and the Caribbean.
