The Arrow-2, an Israeli developed and primarily American funded anti-missile system, was successfully test launched on August 27. Tested on eight previous occasions, the missile system exceeded all expectations for both distance and accuracy. An Arrow-2 Interceptor successfully destroyed a live missile launched from an F-15 jet, at a distance of more than 100 kilometers from the Israeli coast.
The Israeli Air Force currently deploys one battery of the Arrow-2 missiles, a second is to be deployed and a third is under construction, making the Arrow-2 the only operational anti-missile missile system in the world, reports the Jerusalem Post.
