The Egyptian newspaper al-Ahram recently published an article attacking one of Israel?s Chief Rabbis, Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau, for an alleged halachic decision wherein he ?urged his fellow Jews to kill Palestinians resisting occupation.? As part of the denigration heaped upon the Rabbi, the author, Ibrahim Nafei, casts doubt on the accuracy of Rabbi Lau?s memory, ?claimed to be so laden with the horrors of the Holocaust and of death in Nazi gas furnaces.?
The al-Ahram article furthermore denies the Holocaust as a whole, when it questions whether Rabbi Lau would not ?be a better Jew not to urge a repeat on the Palestinians of the German crimes against his people, crimes which are doubtful to have actually materialized.? In an attempt to lend credibility to his Holocaust denial, Nafei wrote of ?many? unnamed ?European and American historians? who are ?skeptical? about the Holocaust.
