An ongoing Christian protest of Syrian occupation of Lebanon has led, as reported in the past, to mass arrests of Christians in Lebanon. The latest development in the story is the potential advent of Christian Arab terrorists attacking Lebanese diplomats in foreign countries.

The Lebanese Foundation for Peace, a Christian Lebanese organization ?promoting peace between Lebanon, Israel and Syria,? is reporting on the receipt of a communiqu? by a little known Christian Lebanese group, the 10,452 Kilometer Group (a reference to the land area of the Lebanese state). According to the press release, the 10,452 Kilometer Group assumed responsibility for an alleged attack on the Lebanese Consulate in Paris. The Group threatened further attacks on Lebanese and Syrian diplomatic missions around the world, because the missions ?function as a mechanism of Iran and Syria in protecting the terrorist HizbAllah organization, whose objective is to annihilate the Christian and Jewish minorities in the Middle East.?

The attacks will be in response to the Syrian plan to ?ethnically cleanse Lebanon of any Christian presence? by any means.? According to the Foundation press release, ?The Lebanese authorities intimidate, threaten, and persecute those Christians remaining with the express purpose of destroying their presence in their native homeland.? Furthermore, the Foundation expressed the Christian Lebanese frustration with Belgium for allowing the Syrians and Palestinians to use the Sabra and Chatilla affair to tarnish the image of the Christian community in Lebanon.?

In an interview with the weekly magazine Ad-Dabbour, Lebanese political activist Samir Franjieh ridiculed the Lebanese Interior Minister Elias Murr?s justifications

for the recent mass arrests of Lebanese Christian opposition groups. The Interior Minister claimed that the ?subversive? groups were intending to take advantage of a supposed Israeli attack in order to overtake the Lebanese government. Franjieh sarcastically said that he was impressed, since despite the ongoing continued ?protection? provided by the Syrian Army, the opposition were still allegedly about to take over the country.
