The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) has translated an important article by Taufiq Abu-Khosa, Deputy Chairman of the Palestinian Center for Information Sources and published in the Palestinian weekly, Al-Manar. Abu-Khosa states that, in the Palestinian Authority, "serious thinking began a while ago about obtaining biological weapons."
Cognizant of the uneven balance of power between the PLO and the Israel Defense Forces, the author reveals that the Arabs feel a need to develop biological or chemical weapons in order to even the field. According to Abu-Khosa, the advantages of these weapons are clear: First of all, ?this weapon terrifies the Israeli security apparatuses, from time to time, mainly because obtaining its primary components, whether biological or chemical, is possible without too much effort??
