The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, local and regional authorities and the World Zionist Organization Settlement Division will cooperate in establishing a communications center in the Jordan Valley town of Ma?ale Efraim.
The facility is scheduled to be a technical college for the various communications professions and will house production, editing and broadcast studios. Shai Lavie, Director of the Settlement Division?s Central Region, reported that while the communications center was originally slated as an academic and technical training facility, with correct management and marketing, it could serve both the educational and the business sectors, providing additional jobs for the region.
The Gaon Communications Group and the Heritage Channel (for Russian language programming) reached an agreement with WZO and Ma?ale Efraim Mayor David Koplowitz about future operation of the facility as a professional editing and broadcast center. The two companies agreed to resume looking into the possibility for advancing the joint project when the studio?s construction is completed and additional technical equipment is installed.
