In an editorial by Hafez al-Barghouti, Editor-in-chief of the Palestinian Authority newspaper Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, he berates the Americans for underestimating the importance of Egypt as the voice of the entire Arab world. That is a fatal mistake, according to Barghouti, for ?Egypt is the key to war or peace in the entire region. Egypt's anger is the anger of all Arabs, regimes and nations.?

Arab sensitivities and positions are undervalued by the US Administration in general, writes Barghouti, and, therefore, the US consistently misses the significance of Egyptian statements. The Al-Hayat Al-Jadida Editor sees the latest positions taken by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak as a signal ??to the Washington rulers who are protecting Sharon?? that the Arab world is losing patience with ??the Americans' unceasing protection for the policy of massacre and assassination.?
