A very successful trip to Israel, organized by the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization (BBYO), has recently come to an end. 200 teenagers returned to the United States from Israel after having had ?a great time,? according to Lane Schlessel, BBYO assistant international director.
Unlike some other American Jewish organizations, most notably the Reform Movement, the BBYO ??felt it was important to bring as many kids as possible to Israel, even if it would have only been ten people? we wanted to show these teenagers Israel and let them be the messengers?. Our spirits were not dampened by the Palestinian intifada.? Although there was a significant drop in participation this summer, BBYO plans to move ahead as scheduled for next year.
