Approximately 30 labor leaders and politicians from across North America arrived in Israel last week. The Labor Division of the Israel Bonds organization has sponsored the trip, the first of five such missions, in order to express the participants support for the Jewish State in its time of need. The delegation will meet with top government and labor leaders, visit Israel Defense Force installations and tour sites of ancient and modern Israel. Labor Unions are the largest non-Jewish investors in Israel Bonds in North America. Philadelphia labor attorney Stuart W. Davidson, co-chair of the Bonds? Labor Advisory Board, told the Philadelphia-based Jewish Exponent that "the support of the Ameri-can labor movement has never been stronger for Israel than it is today." The Jewish Exponent further quoted Davidson as saying that, "while the American unionists have a natural affinity for Israel?s Labor Party, 'I don?t think there is a negative relationship' with rival Likud and its leader, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon."
