The Islamic World League (IWL) warned against "the danger of building of Jewish synagogue in one of al-Aqsa Mosque yards." This was the opening line of one of the major stories in Syria's official Tishrin newspaper this week. According to Tishrin, the League called on Islamic states to adopt "a firm stand in confronting the dangerous Israeli scheme aiming at provocating (sic) the Moslems' feelings." In a speech addressed to the 28th session of the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), the Secretary General of the IWL urged it to pressure international elements "to force Israel to implement all the international resolutions and stop all its aggressive acts against the disarmed (sic) Palestinian people." The league also called on Moslem countries to prevent the transfer of foreign embassies to Jerusalem.
