Some 3000 years ago, King David chose Jerusalem as the capital of his kingdom. As an expression of the unique relationship between the Jewish People and its eternal capital, Jerusalem, Keren Kayemet L'Yisrael - Jewish National Fund has initiated the establishment of "Gan Yaldei Yisrael." (the Hebrew word "Gan" means "Garden", "Gan Yaldei Yisrael" means "The Garden of the Boys and Girls of the Jewish People Around the World".) Gan Yaldei Yisrael is situated in the Jerusalem Peace Forest. Every Jewish child from Israel and abroad is invited to share in the creation of the Gan and become an active partner in the project. Gan Yaldei Yisrael is presently being built on the eastern slopes of Jerusalem, facing the City of David, the Temple Mount and the Western Wall. Visitors to the Gan are invited to enter a series of "gates" through which dramatic panoramas revealing the history of Jerusalem open up.
