The media in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia this week continued to promote the image of the Arabs as the defenseless victims of the eight month old PLO mini-war against Israel. A French News agency report from Riyadh states that the Saudis have called on the international community to intervene to "protect the Palestinians from the barbaric aggression carried out by Israel in the occupied territories." Drawing on the familiar theme of a purported Israeli "genocide" against the Arabs living in Judea, Samaria and Gaza, King Fahd said: "The international community is called upon to protect the Palestinians from the barbaric aggression (by Israel), which uses weapons of mass destruction to exterminate them." Making no distinction between Israel's treatment of Arab terrorists and soldiers on the one hand, and civilians under PLO control on the other, Fahd condemned the "odious terrorist Israeli aggressions against innocent citizens."
