The details of the latest Arab-initiated blood libel against Israel have been uncritically accepted by the official Iranian news agency, IRNA. According to the agency, "Israeli planes and helicopters have dropped poisoned sweets in the West Bank in order to kill children who would pick and eat them." Citing PLO sources, the paper reported that "such 'sweets' were found by villagers in the Nablus, Ramallah and al-Khalil areas, and when thoroughly examined, turned out to be poisoned. The sources said the sweets were packaged in a manner appealing to children, prompting the Palestinian radio and television to warn children and parents against touching the deadly sweets. The Zionist foreign ministry denied reports to that effect, accusing Palestinians of incitement."
The IDF website published the following response to the libel: "It goes without saying that these claims are totally unfounded, and are just another aspect of the wild Palestinian incitement against Israel and another example of PA's lack of credibility."
