Since the official kick-off of Jewish National Fund's (JNF) new E-Z Tree program on March 1, the organization has seen a major increase in tree sales. Over 7000 E-Z Tree accounts have been opened since the program's inception, totaling over $700,000 in tree sales. Through this cost-effective new tree program, donors can pre-purchase tree planting opportunities and keep them in their own personal account for future use.

Tree planting is a defining ritual for Jewish people everywhere as it connects them to their homeland, and JNF has a long-standing tradition of planting trees in Israel. "JNF has always been the world leader in this area, and we celebrate continued success with tree sales reaching new levels each year," says Russell F. Robinson, executive vice president of JNF. "Through the E-Z Tree program, we hope to reach current donors as well as those individuals who have never purchased trees through JNF. We encourage them to take advantage of this convenient, hassle-free and cost-effective new way to purchase trees."

To keep pace with rising costs, JNF recently increased the price of trees from $10 to $18. This is the organization's first price increase in eight years. However, through the E-Z Tree program, donors can still purchase trees for $10. E-Z Tree account holders simply authorize JNF to charge a tax-deductible $100 minimum to a major credit card, or send a check, to fill the account with 10 trees. This amounts to a savings of $80 for every 10 trees purchased through the E-Z Tree program.

The E-Z Tree program, which replaced JNF's existing Tree Bank program, offers additional benefits for tree buyers, including special discounts and offers, preferred call handling, faster account retrieval, and greater speed in placing orders. Trees purchased in the account never expire and can be used for any number of occasions.

The E-Z Tree program allows account holders to easily send trees to family and friends to serve as holiday gifts, as a congratulatory wish upon a graduation or other special achievement, and as a meaningful gesture to memorialize a loved one. Planting a tree is also a special gift to give to celebrate a birth, or for a wedding or anniversary. Each time E-Z Tree account holders choose to give the gift of life by planting a tree for someone in Israel, JNF sends a customized decorative tree certificate to the recipient. Inscribed on the certificate is the recipient's name along with a personal message indicating that a tree will be planted in Israel in their name.

"We are continuously improving upon our many programs to keep them exciting and new in the eyes of our donors," says Robinson. "It is imperative that we update our programs to keep up with the ever-changing times, whether it be tree planting programs, Blue Boxes or fundraising events. The creation of soon to be introduced collector's series tree certificates and the recent addition of Water Certificates are evidence of our efforts to stay current."

As an alternative to trees, JNF also offers E-Z Tree account holders the option of using their E-Z Tree account to purchase water certificates. "Given the severe water shortage Israel is experiencing, we encourage our supporters to contribute to the water crisis by sending water certificates in addition to tree certificates," says Robinson. The E-Z Tree program is just one of many ways to support the land of Israel through JNF. Donors can call JNF's toll free number, 800-542-TREE (8733), to open up an E-Z Tree account or for more information on other donation opportunities.
